Indianapolis, In - May 18, 2011. Join the 2011 BCA National Convention and Expo May 25-28th in downtown St. Petersburg Fl to experience "Back to Basics".

"The theme and programming speaks directly to reestablishing and becoming reconnected with the core values and principles of our profession as well as the mission of our association," said Floyd Keith, Executive Director of BCA. This is a partial listing of speakers and presenters for the 2011 convention.

Leon W. Russell, Vice-Chairman, NAACP National Board of Directors will share information regarding the BCA & NAACP partnership in the areas of mentorship responsibility and equality for all. Mr. Russell also serves as the Director of the Office of Human Rights for Pinellas County Government, Clearwater, Florida. Mr. Desmond Howard, ESPN "College GameDay" analyst will deliver the BCA Convention Keynote address. His television honors include being a part of the Sports Emmy winning seasons of College GameDay (2007-2008) and (2009-2010). Mr. Howard is one of only four players to have won both the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP;

NCAA office of Inclusion updates will be presented by Dr. Bernard Franklin, NCAA Executive Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer in addition to a special appearance and presentation by Dr. Mark A. Emmert, NCAA President.

The BCA Membership Luncheon, sponsored by "Close the Gap" presents Dr. Kevin L. Thomas. Dr. Thomas will present health awareness for individual care as well as supporting your student-athletes.

Continuing with the health awareness theme, Shavon Arline, MPH, Director of Health Programs with NAACP and Andrea Brown, National Director of Membership, NAACP will provide an advocacy perspective why the NAACP is committed to eliminating the racial and ethnic disparities in our health care system that plague people of color.

"The Hiring Process" panel presentation will be moderated by Mr. Eugene Marshall, Jr., Director of Athletics at Iona College. Panelists will examine the issues of hiring within athletics and share their experiences of recent placements. Panel participants are: Mr. Dan Parker, President, Parker Executive Search, Mr. Lee Reed, Director of Athletics, Georgetown University, Mrs. Angie Torian, J.D., Associate A.D./SWA at IUPUI and Doug Woolard, Director of Athletics at University of South Florida

Mr. Len Elmore, iHoops CEO will introduce iHoops programs and updates. iHoops is a joint initiative of NCAA and the NBA. .

Sue Castorino & Randy Minkoff of "The Speaking Specialists will present two sessions. "What to do when things happen....because they will" and "SOCIAL MEDIA'S IMPACT: THE RAMIFICATIONS & CONSEQUENCES". These experts will demonstrate how the Internet has become a major player in the public and the fascination of it by the mainstream media.

"How to Build Team Spirit, Rhythm and Teamwork will be presented by Jon Crowder, J.D. of Peak Rhythms. In this interactive workshop, we will give coaches powerful tools and principles to build team spirit, teamwork, and leadership.
